In 2019, Airbnb launched several new categories of experiences—including Airbnb Cooking.
We made a four-part series of mini documentaries that highlighted individual hosts as culture-bearers.
Airbnb Cooking
Night after night in Lisbon, an industrial garage became an underground Airbnb Experience where drag performers hosted strangers for dinner. The table was a collision of tourists, locals, sequins, and simmering pots—part drag show, part confessional, part family meal.
In this short film, I followed one of the hosts through the ritual of getting ready, setting the table, and opening up. What does community taste like after the spotlight fades, and how do chosen families preserve space for joy and identity around the table?
